Project begins

Hi all,

We heard in July that the Heritage Lottery Fund had awarded educational charity digital-works a grant to work with Falconbrook Primary School, Wandsworth Local Studies and local residents to run a project exploring the history of the Winstanley Estate. The focus of the project will be on the experiences of those who have lived and worked on the estate, an oral history of the estate.

We have been busy meeting people and setting the project up and one exciting development we hope to build on is to include young people living on the estate who go to Providence House youth club. We will also be working with sheltered housing projects, Tenants Associations, local councillors and many more.

We are setting up various talks and workshops to explore the history of the estate and are looking for residents, particularly older residents, who will be able to spare some time to help with the project mainly through sharing their memories of the area both before and after the estate was built.

Local young people will be filming interviews with residents leading to the production of an oral history based documentary.

Please get in touch if you'd like to be involved with the project.
